What's Good?

April 18, 2010 in Uncategorized with 15 Comments

I want to use this Sunday to tell you what God has been doing lately in my life. He’s shown me how important QUALITY time with my family is and He’s also shown me that no matter how much I worry, He’s still in control. That last one is a hard one for me to fully comprehend, but I’m always working on life stuff.

Tell me something—
What has God done for you or shown you lately?

He showed me the difference between acting out of a sense of duty/guilt and acting out of obedience. (Getting ready to blog about that one) He's also shown me how much He's in control. I'm still working on living in that knowledge every moment. :-P

Something from last night's Rock & Worship Roadshow finally made it's way to my ears! Bart was giving his message and he said that people ask why does he keep doing the same thing every night (and every day). His reply was "I do it, not because I want to, but, because I have to". Bam! My heart is so full of God and, also with recovery. I sometimes feel like I'm going to burst open! Both with my faith and my experience, strength & hope in recovery. I can't keep it in! I want everyone I meet to "get it". Whether it be about God or how recovery is built on this foundation that God helped me pour.

So, what has God shown me or done for me? Made sure I quiet down & listen sometimes! I don't always have to be the one speaking. :)

God's been showing me that being passionate for Him means surrendering everything–all my baggage–at the cross. That having faith means believing that the God of the impossible can do anything despite my circumstances.

He's also been showing me that prayer isn't just something I do, but it is where I can be real with the Lord. Spending time with the Lord is the only way I can grow in Him, and only then, can I, genuinely, help others.

He's shown me that even at my worst He loves me because even at my worst He still sees the best in me. He's not caught off guard by my failures even when I am caught off guard by them. In the midst of it all His love remains constant. (I sound like such a girl – hehe)

It's so easy when so many churches seem focused on religion and not faith to forget the two greatest commandments. I get worn out, or focused on the wrong things frequently. But he seems to bring me back to Matt 22:36-40 as often as I need it. Which is a lot.

God is showing me that His gifts and call are truly irrevocable. Even if I run, He's still there, waiting to give me what He's promised.

It's such a "God thing" that you posted this and asked this question TODAY. Here's a link to my blog for Sunday… God used something from my distant past that I had completely forgotten to show me and my wife that we are NOT forgotten…
