urls2
Posted In social media week
Hello again. This is the third post in social media week here on jackalopekid.com. This one is on “urls” or “links” and it will explain to you why my facebook link is now the link on my twitter page. Here we go. Now, the url on someone’s twitter page is the first thing I look at and I’m guessing post other people look at it, too. The reason behind this is that it gives me another place to connect with that person. I’m actually taking this tip from a big time twitter guy, @zaibatsu. You want to pretty much listen to anything this guy says about anything social media. He says that a person should put whatever link he/she wants to build at that specific time as their url on their twitter page. If you think about it, it really makes a lot of sense. If you are following people like you should, then most of those people will come look at your twitter page when it’s their turn to add you. And hopefully that means they will look at your url that you give for them to view on your twitter page. Simple right? Yep, it’s really that simple. The other part of giving a link on twitter is giving the link in a tweet. You should use a tweet shortener when doing this. Some great tweet shorteners are bit.ly, ow.ly by hootsuite, and tinyurl. The easiest way I have found for the mac is tweetie. If you just drag this button into your toolbar, when you come across a webpage that you like, you just hit the button and a new tweet window shows up with the link already in it. Pretty simple. There are tons more link shorteners out there, but those seem to be the best and most commonly used. If you do all these things, you should be set up perfectly for tomorrow’s subject, twitter’s biggest compliment.
