You Are Just Down One Step: The Idea

Ideas come and they go.

Some of those ideas that come are bad, some are good and then some are those great ones in life.

Forget about the bad ideas once you recognize which ones those are. There is no use in spending mental capacity on ideas that aren’t going anywhere.

As for the good ideas, write those down somewhere where you can come back to them later. You may need to spend extra time thinking about how you can make those good ideas even better. With some strategic planning, those will most likely become great later on.

Great ideas are the game changers.  Those are the ones that are bigger than you. Those are the ones that you will need help in making happen. Those are the ones that will impact others the most. Those are the ones you will want to spend time on to craft very carefully in order to make them succeed in the way they were intended to. Those are the ideas that are ready to be seen.

So, You Are Just Down One Step: The Idea

Frankly, all you need is one golden idea to kickstart the process, but wouldn’t it be great if you had so many great ideas that you had options on which one to move on first? When options happen, you don’t settle for just another good idea. The creative juices begin to flow and greatness begins to form.

The idea is to increase the frequency of great ideas. So, how do you do that?

Here are a few ways to put yourself in the way of more great ideas:

4:8 principle

March 22, 2011 in 14 Comments

Ever been around someone that is just negative all the time? They think negative, speak negative and they end up depressing everyone else around them.

It’s pretty annoying isn’t it?

These folks talk about how terrible their job is, how bad their marriage is and how their life sucks.

It’s not only annoying, but life draining.

Hopefully this person isn’t you, but if it is you just have to count your blessings instead of counting everything bad that is going on in life.

Please don’t tell me who those people are, even if it is you. But, now think about people who you hang around that speak positive things all the time. Your time with them is probably much different.

You most likely encourage one another, give life to each person’s huge dreams and think along the same way.

Time with each other is productive and uplifting.

One of my favorite easy read books is The 4:8 Principle by Tommy Newberry.

It’s based on Philippians 4:8 which says:

Finally, brethren,
whatever things are true,
whatever things are noble,
whatever things are just,
whatever things are pure,
whatever things are lovely,
whatever things are of good report,
if there is any virtue and
if there is anything praiseworthy—

Meditate on these things.

Let’s start now. What’s one thing you’ve been blessed with. Trust me, there’s something.

bumper stickers

August 3, 2010 in 4 Comments

I tweeted the other day that I’m not a “Jesus fish” or a Christian bumper sticker kind of guy. I got a couple of questions on that comment, so I wanted to go in a bit more detail. Well, it’s because I’m probably not the best example all of the time and I doubt anyone reads “Jesus is Lord” on the back of a car and says to themselves, “You know what, they’re right!!!!!!!!” I guess we can do a trial run here with sticker conviction. Do the bumper stickers make you love Jesus (more)?

confrontation

Above is a tweet from Sunday evening. I don’t have too much of a filter when I write. This is why I always let other folks read my posts before I post them on here. I always end up changing stuff because of this little extra step. It’s always a good way to keep the jackalopekid in check from writing things that sound hateful. I’m still working on the whole LOVE thing. This time I let Jasmine proofread the post I was going to put on here today about Jennifer Knapp. She reminded me of the question, “Who will this help?”. After I did this, I knew the post was just too much to post. Nobody will probably ever see this thing. We could call these “The Lost Jackalopekid Writings”. When I pass away these will be worth millions. This is a joke.

One question for ya:

Do you think there can ever be a good outcome with being confrontational? If so, how do we as Christians confront in love?

get it out there

April 13, 2010 in 26 Comments

When people meet me for the first time, the first thing everyone says is, “I feel like I know everything about you.” Well, that’s a good thing. But wait, it could be a bad thing, right? Is anyone actually awesome enough for everyone to know what the heck is going on in their life every second of the day? This has me thinking something that questions the thing I do each and every day. It questions one of my favorite hobbies. It’s something you’ll probably hate me for even asking, but I feel that I should.

Do you think there could be anything wrong with using social media to let everyone in the world know what’s going on in your life?

views changed

April 1, 2010 in 20 Comments

My views have changed since I became a Christian and I’m sure yours have, too. It has changed the things that I want and don’t want to do. I made sure not to use “stuff I can and can’t do” there because us Christians still have fun. We play skipbo and drink pink lemonade while watching reruns of “The Brady Bunch”. Fun stuff. icon wink views changed It seems God is in the changing business now that I think about it. He changed what I wanted to dwell on, what I wanted to look at, who I wanted to hang out with and what I spent my time doing. Most people seem to think God is in the, “You better be perfect or I’ll get you” business. But you see, when you find God, YOU WANT to be a better person. At least I did. God changes you when you REALLY find Him. That’s why you can come to Him just as you are.

So, since you became a Christian, on what subjects have your views changed?

I saw the movie Avatar and you probably saw it, too. I actually loved the movie to be honest. Here’s what Christianity Today thought about the movie. The above video is what Mark Driscoll thought of Avatar. After reading the review and watching the video clip, what do you think?
