things have changed

It’s going in a less judgmental, more kind, welcoming, Christ-like direction.

The”old” church was far too ruled by human concocted fear, ignorance, control and idealism.

The best definition I’ve ever seen of sin:

“Whatever weakens your reasoning, impairs the tenderness of your conscience, obscures your sense of God or takes away your relish for spiritual things; in short, if anything increases the authority and power of the flesh over the Spirit, then that to you becomes sin, however good it is in itself.” — Susanna Wesley

As for the direction the church is headed….it seems to me that we’re trying to head in a more loving, less judgmental direction, but we’re a bit unsure of how to get there without compromising some real truth. I’m hopeful that we can do it well, because I think it’s necessary–we have been far too legalistic for far too long.

Wow! Things have changed. I always did think Jesus was a bit too rough on those guys trying to make a buck in the temple. He claimed they made the Temple something is was not meant to be by bringing too much of the world into it. Some actually believe that has some spiritual application to us being “Temples”. Why was he being so judgmental that day? I think he should have been more loving and just let them do their own thing. It was not “sin” it was “commerce”.

And what about that fig tree deal? Cursed just for not looking and acting like a fig tree? What if it did not want to be a fig tree that day. We should be glad the church is getting away from all that legalistic stuff. Jesus said the world would hate us, but we don’t have think so negatively. We can be loving, kind and accepting no matter what and then people will love us instead of hate us. I say let’s update the bible and leave out all that “Hell, Judgment and hate” stuff. The Bible should change to fit the new direction of the church. Thanks for permission to just be oueselves… good stuff!
