passion

April 5, 2010 in leadership with 9 Comments

When I have passion for something I do my best to complete it with greatness. When I’m not so passionate about the task at hand, I usually do it halfway. Well, I suck at it. I am passionate about pursuing an intimate relationship with God, creating a perfect relationship with my family, operating in my “genius” each and every day, climbing the world’s tallest peaks in the world to meet my number one goal for the next thirty years, creating music that provokes thought and brings joy to those ears that happen to be listening, and writing down the deepest parts of my heart and soul for God, myself and the reader. The other stuff in life I’m just bleh at. That’s where the rest of you come in. It’s so awesome God didn’t make us all the same because you wouldn’t want me as your club president, your event planner, your basketball coach and the list goes on and on. I believe it is so important to focus on your strengths instead of your weaknesses, although I would love to be great at everything.

So, I want you to brag on yourself for a second and be honest with us all at the same time. What are you great at? What are you not so great at? Love yourself for who you are and focus on the strengths. Go.

If I could...

I'm passionate about helping others. God has really laid that upon my heart in the past few years. For me, this can be just helping a friend out and/or supporting an organization (i.e. charity: water) for a great cause. God's really impressed a Nehemiah mentality on my heart; that is prayer alongside action, and standing up for things we believe in.

Things I'm not so good at include time management, and administrative work. I'm definitely getting better, but not my strong point. Oh, also, I'm definitely not the handy fix-it kind of guy…lol.

Hmm…I'm great at web programming, video editing. That's about it. I try real hard to be a great husband and dad.

I'm not so hot at golf. By not-so-hot I mean awful.

Well, school…I could be the eternal student! This is my 10th year of teaching! I love to learn…I'm musically inclined (the family joke is you either sing or preach! :D ) I'm creative and great with computers.

I love telling people about Jesus and what he's done in my life, but I often feel inadequate. I can't remember scripture references and I don't have an athletic bone in my body.

I'm passionate about changing the church to be the powerful, radical place Jesus imagined it could be.

I'm terrible at all sports. I hate to sweat, so I am anti-passionate about anything and everything that requires sweating.

My passion is music and getting God's message across to people.

I often feel like I can't words out clearly or the message out the way easy to understand to those who I am sharing them to. It's like I get mixed up with words. And I have a slight fear of standing in front of a crowd of people by myself, I'm really trying to go to God on that on.

I’m passionate about organizing. I know, I’m a freak, but I LOVE to organize…a closet, the garage, junk drawers, you name it. When my husband needs to make a trip to Lowe’s I always go with him to browse the closet organizer isle.

I’m also passionate about my family, about the water crisis in Africa, and about my church.

I appreciate this post. “Passion” is something of a popular topic in my world of late.
