Sometimes I write blogs to see your opinion on a matter. Sometimes I write a blog to let you know my opinion on something. Sometimes I just write to empty my mind.
The one thing that I sometimes forget about blogging is that it was partly invented to let other people know what is going on in life. So, here are my happenings and thoughts as of late:
- Haiti trip with SafeWorld has been moved to August 12-16. So excited about this!!!
- I have my book, “Perfect Church” 90% completed. I should have this finished within the next three months.
- Even though my twitter profile says I am located in Denver, CO I am actually located in Fort Collins, CO, which is an hour north of Denver. I list it like this for more exposure on twitter.
- There will be a new jackalopekid.com launching on July 19th. This is version 3.0 and it is by far the best yet. I can’t wait for you guys to see it.
- I am thinking of getting my first tattoo. I don’t know where I want to get it, but I know I want it to say “To the Summit” in Latin, which is “Ad Alta”.
- We are helping plant orchardchurch in Westminster, CO.
- I am at 20 highpoints overall and plan to climb five more by the end of 2010. This will get me to the halfway point.
- My thoughts right now are that I have a farmer’s tan and I need to do some laundry.
There are some other things I have up my sleeve, but I can’t tell all of my secrets here.
So tell me, What’s going on in your life?
I spend a lot of time dealing with blogging, facebook and twitter. It seems everybody does this social media junk these days. This has me thinking about the future of social media and how long it will even be around. Will I be 80 years old and tweeting about my false teeth and my walker? Maybe so. I will not blame you if you don’t read my tweets when I’m 80 years old.
Or maybe my thoughts will be broadcasted for the whole world to see… Nevermind.
The internet is a beautiful thing.
Where do you see social media heading? What are some things you would like to see in the next big social media craze?
When things are busy and Jasmine and I are running through life, it’s sometimes hard to think about the important things. Maybe you know this feeling.
Well, last week when we trekked in Utah’s Uintas Wilderness for thirty-two miles, I had plenty of time to think about the important stuff-and the not so important stuff. While on the journey, I thought mostly about the faith I had in a God that I can’t even see with my eyes and where our relationship was at and where it was going. The unseen part is a tough one for me sometimes because I want everything to be tangible. I mean come on, I’m American.
It also brought thoughts of how we made it this far together. Life gets hard sometimes. You know about this, folks.
The beautiful landscape alone had me thinking quite a bit about God’s attention to detail. Matthew 6 came to mind. I know that only God could make something so beautiful. I guess God also made the mosquitoes and the horses that left crap on the trail all the way to the top. Boo.
God’s wonder and awesomeness has been on my mind the past couple of days and maybe it’s crossed your mind at some point in your life.
So, when you first thought about believing in the whole God thing, what was the one thing that convinced you to start believing? Was it creation? Christians love? An altar call? A friend that talked you into it? What was it?
at this point I need…
honest folks in my life.
people to understand and not be quick to point fingers. trust me, I know by now what I’m not the best at. (these last two statements contradict each other sometimes, but it works.)
a grandmother. (they both passed away last year. i miss them dearly).
more exercise.
more space and a backyard. (i want a dog. a golden retriever to be exact.)
a new coffee mug. (i broke my favorite one this morning)
capital letters. (i am a fan of lowercase. i am sorry if this offends you.)
What do you need?
Here is a guest post from my good friend, Jason Young over at jasonyounglive.com. Great stuff there. Check it! You can also find Jason on twitter at @jasonyounglive.
I was chatting with my friend, Jeremie Kubicek, CEO of GiANT Impact, about how he processes ideas. His simple insight has been a help to me.
Filter your idea(s) through the following:
People – are the right people at the table to make the idea executable?
Funding – are the financial resources available to execute the idea?
Timing – are the timing elements aligned to execute this particular idea?
Once you have the main ingredients (above), I would add three important factors:
Organization – are you putting elements together to create a functioning whole?
Discipline – are you prepared to live in an orderly pattern of behavior?
Poise – are you in a state of readiness, especially for the unexpected?
If your idea survives the above process, what are you waiting for? Go for it!
