My iPad Review
I will now add a review to the other million or so on Apple’s new iPad. This review comes after having my iPad for only one week, but I feel I have had enough time to give an honest opinion on it. My opinion is probably not what you are thinking, though.
I feel like I should say that I won my iPad from Dealsplus and the iPad is not a “need” item. If I were to spend $600 on something, it would not be an Apple iPad. If I had $600 to spend, I would keep using my Macbook Pro as my mobile device and I would buy a Mac Mini because I could really use a desktop computer. That’s just my need right now, but yours might be different. Now that I have that out there, here we go.
First, I would like to focus on the positive things about the iPad. It has an amazing picture quality, great battery life, lightweight and the sound is great, too. The iBooks app looks very promising, but does lack titles at this time. I would definitely rather use it than a kindle. The massive screen makes it a “no brainer”. The iPad has the everybody-looks-when-person-pulls-it-out-of-bag-coolness factor, too. Also, it has a great price tag. That alone might sell this product to you. When I think about other items in the market at this price, I would rather have an Apple product any day. Those are the best things I have found with the iPad.
Now, the iPad will not replace your laptop. It is a whole new device that seems great for composing and checking mail. That is about it at this point. I am usually a new Apple product adopter and love their devices, but it feels like Apple released this product a little too early. This thought comes as I look at the iPad by itself. I guess if I did compare it to others, it might make the iPad look better.
After having the iPad for a few days, I was back to using my laptop 95% of the time. I think this is because the functionality I wanted and expected was missing. Of course Flash is not on the iPad, but that’s a different blog post. I guess this pretty much makes the iPad a larger iTouch. The twenty or so apps that I tried all crashed on me at some point while using them and Safari was slow at most times. Yes, my wi-fi connection was strong to quite strong. I expect an update will come from Apple very soon to fix these problems, but right now it’s just not what I expect from Apple.
At this time, it’s a great looking piece of equipment that is lacking stability.
Well, I hope this review helps those of you trying to decide whether to buy one or not. I would recommend just waiting to buy an iPad until Apple can fix the problems because the cons outweigh the pros at this time. This review probably helps you folks that don’t have the money to buy one right now. You shouldn’t cry too much about it.
So, after hearing my thoughts on the iPad, what do you think?
