line

March 14, 2010 in deepness with 3 Comments

The question shouldn’t be, “how close we can get to the wrong/right line?”, it should be, “how far away can we get?” I want to be so far in it that there is no doubt. I want people to know I’m a Christian without having to tell them. Actions speak wonders, but it’s not all about that. When I fell in love with Jesus something happened. I changed. Do you know what I’m talking about?

You're right, we should stay far away from the "line". It amazes me that this flirting with disaster has been going on from the beginning. Think about it. In Genesis God gave 2 humans free reign over all the garden except for 1 tree…guess where they were hanging out? I do the same thing. Instead of enjoying my freedom I see how close I can get…and so the only one limiting me is myself.

My pastor preached on this a couple weeks ago – not asking "Is this sin?" but "Does this lead to godliness?" Not seeing how close we can get to the line, but striving to get as far away from it as possible.

The sermon's up on iTunes if you're interested; search Deep Water Church and choose the podcast by AJ Thomas. It's from March 7, called "God Didn't Create the World – Control".
