them tunes

August 31, 2010 in 7 Comments

If you remember my music post from last year, I recommended NeedtoBreathe’s last album, “The Outsiders”. Well, a lot of great music has come out since then. My favorite album right now is “Sigh No More” from Mumford & Sons, but I need about seventeen more albums to listen to.

What new or old music would you recommend?

priorities

August 29, 2010 in 10 Comments

I tweeted the other day that it took me way too long to find out what the really important stuff in life is. And I mean every word of that. It took me six years of marriage to figure this one out. I said God was first, but he really wasn’t. I said Jasmine was second, but she really wasn’t. Just because you say how you feel or say what you care about doesn’t mean that you actually feel that way. Your actions say a lot for sure. How much time you spend with that person or consumed in that activity also says a lot about your priorities, too. I’m not saying all of this because I think that I’m an expert or anything. I would just like to challenge you to reevaluate your priorities like I did to make sure they are all where they should be. We could all learn something from each other for sure.

Here are some videos I’ve seen in the past week that I keep thinking about.

And this one made me think…

Enjoy.

Got anything to share?

nasty

August 24, 2010 in 4 Comments

This is a wall full of chewed up gum. I would say this is beautiful in a weird way. Some would say it is a work of art. This wall started forming by someone just sticking one piece of gum on it. The gum on the wall was considered nasty at that point. But, it eventually grew into something amazing. I guess it’s how you look at it. Some situations you are looking at right now look nasty, but try to see it from a different perspective. There is a process to everything. Your circumstance or situation will eventually be a work of art.

getting all emotional

August 23, 2010 in 8 Comments

I used this video awhile ago in a post entitled “The Best Church Video Ever”. I absolutely love it because it makes me laugh every time. I’m not going to judge whether or not this is real because I don’t know the guy personally, but it seems a bit over the top to me. Maybe God likes a person dives into a baptismal. Why not?

Although this is an extreme case of emotions running wild in a church, do you believe there is a place for big emotions in church?

3 questions.

Which social networks do you use?
In what ways do you use them?
Do you feel like you actually get to form a personal relationship with other folks when using these sites?

YouVersion

August 18, 2010 in 8 Comments

Some people use “real” Bible’s because they look more holy and you can write in them. Then there’s YouVersion, which is an amazing tool. That’s pretty much all I use on the go. I’m with Jonathan Acuff on the fact that iPhones need a jingle to let everyone around me in church know that I’m using YouVersion on my iPhone and not texting people about where I want to eat after service. I think everyone feels the “judgefest” when that’s going on.

So, for those of you that use YouVersion, do you use it for reading all the time or just at church?

Your favorite pic based on page views from posterous from the past few months is this photo of a deer antler chandelier. I am originally from Alabama, but I don’t hunt nor do I plan to ever try it. But, I like this chandelier for one reason… It looks manly. Maybe I have a lot of manly men checking out my photos. This comforts me.

What are some pics that you’ve photographed or seen recently that you’ve loved? Please include links below in comment section so we can all see.
