ear tunes

Here are my 10 favorite songs at the moment:

Screen shot 2010 06 30 at 12.20.32 AM ear tunes

If I’m in my car with no cd’s or an iPod, there is no way I’m listening to the Christian radio station longer than 3 songs. They play the same stuff from ten years ago.

My playlist has changed quite a bit from what it was just a few weeks ago. My top ten songs last month would have been a mixture of Snow Patrol, Drake and 3OH!3. This month, every one of my favorite songs are “Christian” songs. I mean, I still listen to “secular” music (whatever “secular” means), but Jesus Culture and Trip Lee have been hitting me hard lately. That’s a good thing, by the way. I like all kinds of music. If it has good music behind some good lyrics, I’m all for it, whether it be from Kim Walker or Eminem. There’s definitely a feeling I get from different types of music, though. With Kim I get an uplifting feeling and with Eminem, I get some sort of an angry feeling.

So, here’s my question for you…

Do you think Christians should only listen to “Christian” music? Oh, and what music are you listening to these days?

the top 10 things i love about the fort

fortcollins01 the top 10 things i love about the fort

The above photo is of Fort Collins, CO. If you haven’t been following this blog for long, then you probably don’t know that I moved from Atlanta, GA almost eight months ago. Things are quite a bit different here, but in a good way. Atlanta has a lot of great things to offer, but it just wasn’t for me.

So, here are the top ten reasons why I love the city of Fort Collins:

  1. I can see the mountains from here.
  2. In Colorado people despise litter.
  3. No humidity. This should be #1.
  4. People are really active here. We are the healthiest state by the way.
  5. It’s at the right size where everybody knows everybody. I take this as a good thing.
  6. It snows here for most of the year. I love snow now, but someday it might get old.
  7. Everything is in walking distance.
  8. People are too nice here. I thought people in the south were nice before I came here.
  9. There’s not a “Bible Belt” mentality. (If you’ve lived in the south, then you know what I mean.)
  10. We have the coolest looking license plates in the nation. This is a fact.

Well, there’s my top 10 list for why I dig this place so much. Now it’s your turn…

Give me one reason why you love the city that you live in.

dad's day

June 20, 2010 in 5 Comments

dad dad's day

This is my dad. He still lives in Atlanta. Our relationship hasn’t been what it probably should be lately, but we both make the excuse of being “too busy”. We need to work on that one. Even though we don’t catch up with each other that often now, I do sometimes think about all the awesome childhood memories. My favorite memories are of us playing catch with each other. We did that almost every day. It seems so small, but those are the things I remember most. The small things. I have to remember when I become a dad, that it’s the small things that really matter.

What is your favorite memory with your dad?

iPhone4

June 16, 2010 in 9 Comments

Screen shot 2010 06 16 at 9.25.58 PM iPhone4

Well, I know some of you are tired of hearing about the iPhone4, but I have to talk about this for a minute. When each new iPhone comes out, I go pick it up. I really don’t even think about having a new Apple product. This is probably not a good thing. Anybody else out there like this?

After saying this, it seems to me the past three Apple iPhone releases definitely went smoother than this release for the iPhone4. Even after all of these problems, Apple still sold 600,000 units in 24 hours. All I can say to that is, “Wow”. But, it seems like some hamsters put this whole thing together for iPhone/AT&T and all of them went on vacation. The main problem is that these companies keep putting big online events like this together while knowing that their servers will crash when everyone and their mom scrambles to get the latest gadget. It’s just bad business practices, folks.

Can anybody think of a better solution to all of this madness?

Organized

June 15, 2010 in 11 Comments

Organization might not be a big deal to you, but I love it because it makes my life easier. So, I just changed my whole organization system. I went from a bunch of papers thrown into a binder to a folder system. I’ll let you know how that goes. As for my calendar, I would never go back to a paper calendar after using my iPad and iPhone for my calendar. Especially since they both sync to my computer. It’s just easier. As for notes, I am between evernote and old fashioned pen and paper. As much as I want to go totally paperless, pulling out a pen and paper just feels easier than using evernote all the time. If there was a binder for paper and an iPad, I think that would work very well. All I have found that comes close to my ideal organization setup is this case. I might have to wait on something that has more pockets in it, though. That’s all I’m doing right now to stay a little more sane.

So, how do you stay organized?
