What If…

September 30, 2009 in 24 Comments

I know I shouldn’t focus on the past because I can’t change what has happened. But, I am human and think about it from time to time. So here a question for ya://

What if…

I would have never moved to Atlanta?

I would have never bought a home here in Atlanta?

I would have studied harder in college?

I can’t stop drinking caffeine?

I’m the crazy one?

// What’s your “What if…”?

Rules of Twitter

Today I wrote twitter, Evan Williams and Jack Dorsey (CEOs of twitter) all with the same message to see if there was a rulebook on twitter. I’ve gotten no responses yet, but this subject came up a few weeks ago on here. We talked about doing a blog post on this subject matter, so here it is. I’ve always thought you can just make twitter whatever you want it to be, but some others don’t agree- (part 1) and (part 2) // (Examples: How often you should tweet, Auto-follow, Auto DMs, asking for RTs, tweet to reply ratio). So, what do you think?… Should twitter have rules about how you should tweet or should you be able to tweet however you want to?

Yep, It’s finally feeling a little bit like fall here in Georgia. Love this weather. You love it and I love it. But to get more specific, I really love when the leaves change color. Every year we try going for a drive in the north Georgia mountains to take a look at them. That’s my favorite thing about the fall. So tell me something, What’s your favorite thing about fall? Be specific.

Saw this video in church today. It blew me away. This is for both men and women. “No wonder our perception of beauty is distorted”.

Final Countdown

Well, if you haven’t heard yet this is my last weekend at The Church at Chapel Hill. I started going there five years ago when we were just in a High School auditorium. Now, we have grown into a pretty large church with a brand new facility that is able to accommodate for new guests and regular church members alike. We actually are about to start the 888 campaign where The Church at Chapel Hill is building eight new churches in the next eight years and the Internet Campus just started up and is running live every weekend. God is definitely pouring His Spirit out on Douglasville, GA. After saying all this, my last weekend attending this awesome church is finally here and we are definitely going to miss every single aspect of it. So, many great, powerful, God-things have happened since being at CCH. Being under Pastor Dave Divine‘s leadership, Jasmine and I have grown so much. It has been a wonderful time of meeting new people and serving over the past five years. At this moment it is definitely a bitter-sweet feeling. We are leaving all of the  familiar faces and moving on to help plant another church, Church at the Orchard. It’s definitely going to be a fun, hard, and interesting all at the same time kind of experience experience doing this. So many unknowns at the moment but God remains constant. So, thank you to CCH for the years of awesomeness. I just wish I would have met more people along the way. I don’t feel like I even come close to knowing the many friendly people that attend this great church. But hey, this all goes back to Howdy.

I didn’t video tape many things while at CCH, but this is the probably the most fun thing I caught on tape.

Howdy

September 27, 2009 in 0 Comments

I haven’t talked to someone outside my small circle of friends at my church in a long time. I talk to the same people week in and week out and don’t think twice about it. Yep, this is not good. So, my challenge to myself is to meet new people at my church in the next couple of weeks. I’ll give myself the goal of meeting 3 new people in the next month. Hold me to it guys. So, do you know what I’m talking about? We need new relationships. They make us grow personally and get us outside of our church group box we have built for ourselves. When’s the last time you shook someone else’s hand, said howdy and really got to know them as a friend?

Traffic

So, yesterday this happened because of traffic due to the Atlanta flood:

Convenient

“Christian” and “convenient” don’t go together. Pretty much every single thing that Jesus did was out of His way. When I think of what traits a Christian should have, one of the first ones that comes to mind is being a SERVANT. To truly serve, one must humble themselves first. To do these things is not convenient at all. Nobody wants to do the dirty work, but the church was called to do it. Take people volunteering in the Atlanta flood relief project for example. These people will probably never be recognized by man but the Father recognizes it, and thats all that matters. There are so many people that need help, inside and outside of Atlanta. They might not smell right or look right, but they look awesome to Jesus. So, get out of your little church bubble and go hang out with the people who need help outside of the church. The ones that might not step inside of a church building, but would open up to a fresh meal when they are digging around in dumpsters or a bottled water when they’re thirsty. So, your potlucks, watch to see what the person next to you is going to think open eyed prayers, same seats every Sunday and feel good gossip can wait for a bit. It’s time we show God’s love to the world. We don’t get to pick and choose stuff when we become a Christian. We become the whole Jesus-loving deal. And yes, with this post I’m speaking to myself.

So, everytime I picture jackalopekid.com I think of you, the reader. This isn’t all about me because: one, this is about Jesus; two this is about relationships and three, you are the one reading this junk. So, please put your blog URL in the comment section below so others can check it. Once you check the different blogs, feel free to add a couple to your blogroll on your blog or your personal RSS feed. I guess it doesn’t matter what you really do with it, but there is always a blog that I find that is a gem just waiting to be seen. Peace
